About Me
I’m enthusiastic about games, music and sound.
In my free time, I’m working on music (listen to my album!), and solo-developing an indie game currently known as Project X.
In my day job in the world of merchandising, I do lots of systems work and data analysis, working with numbers, reports, people, and product.
In 2023, I completed an MA in Music by Research with distinction at City, University of London, where I also graduated with a first class BSc in Music, Sound and Technology in 2022. For my Masters project, I researched creative implementations of audio, like using polyphonic and sequential variance (Berndt, 2012) to procedurally create variation in music by combining different melodies, harmonies and rhythms in real time. I also made a dynamic soundscape game that simulates animal vocalisations using the acoustic niche hypothesis (Krause, 1993), which was showcased as a sound installation at City during the postgraduate conference and concert during City’s Summer Sounds festival in 2023.
To conclude my undergraduate study, I undertook a project to research and broaden my skills in audio implementation and adaptive music composition. Using Sebastian Lague’s excellent Solar System game demo, the project really helped me to understand practical challenges and decisions for non-linear music, and to become confident with the technical tools needed for implementation. I performed the music in a live playthrough of the game at City’s ‘From the City Studios 2022’ concert.
I have experience in many areas of audio, like composition, performance, mixing, mastering, programming, live sound and more. I love that video games as a medium provide creative possibilities for audio experience, and like to use technology to turn creative ideas into reality.
I played in Rhythms of the City, a London-based samba band, from mid-2021 to 22, where I broadened my expertise in rhythm and percussion techniques, and gained experience in a gigging environment. Some highlights for me were playing in the Queen’s Jubilee Pageant, where we played through the streets of London among a massive parade of performers with crazy costumes; gigging at various spots in London; and learning from and becoming friends with other amazing musicians. I then continued to play samba in City’s Global Percussion ensemble, playing mainly repique and surdo, and gaining experience as music director.
I also love running, board games, and baking vegan treats!
